OCR: IBM WebSphere Enterprise Edition Standards Support Indudes Component Broker, which is CORBA 2.0-compliant; supports IIOP, Java servlet 2.1. JSP 0.91, EJB 1.0. Protocols: HTTP, HTTPS, AMITIOP, Servlets, and 3SP are directly sup ported by the IBM HTTP Web server, and servlet engine. RMMIOP is supported by CB EJB containers. EJB 1.0, Java Naming and Directory Interface, LDAP, JDBC 2.0, native driver for DB2, Java Transaction API (JTA) JTS/DTS, JavalDL. There is also support for using XML for Java API 2.0.x and 1.1.x. Object/Relational Mapping Component Broker's Object Builder tool supports building of persistence objects. Shared Cache Yes (in WebSphere Performance Pack) Transaction Support Supports JTS and CORBA OTS. Integrated with heteroge- neous datastores for distributed transactions involving IBM database products Persistence Support Supports EJB container-managed persistence (to Oracle and DB2) as well as CORBA persistence [BOA and TIE bindings but not POA) Component Broker's Object Builder tool supports bullding of persistence objects, which are used by managed objects in the content of the Managed Object Framework For EJ8, both container managed and bean managed persis- tance are supported by WSEE. CB provides adapters for con- tainer managed beans where a bean can be created to use procedural storage such as CICS/IMS and MQSeries, as well as relational databases such as 032 and Oracle. Passivation policy is more limited for EJB in that a bean in a transaction will only be passivated at the end of the transaction while those not in a transaction can be passivated anytime (as determined by the container). Connection Pooling Yes (via JDBC) Multi-threaded Server Administration Administrative Console provides a centralized, hierarchical view of all resources in an admin domain and can be used to configure resources, to set security policy, to start servers, and to monitor system failures and usage patterns. The WebSphere Performance Pack provides facilities manage- ment software for load balancing, caching and fe replication Security Supports DCE (IBM DCE V2.2 on AIX, IBM/Transarc DCE V2.0 on Solaris, IBM DCE V2.2, of Gradient OCE V2.2 on Windows NT. Authorization server and single sign-on are provided vla IBM's SecureWay PotcyDirector product (which does not run on Solaris) Load Balancing Yes. There are loed-balancing features in IBM's AFSS file system, in SecureWay Network Dispatcher, and in the WebSphere Performance Pack. Failover Yes, If replication has been set up via server groups; both stateful and stateless servers are supported if they use the persistence framework provided. Platform Support AI WSEE components are supported on; Microsoft Windows NT Server V4.0. Sun Solaris V2.6. IBM AIX/GC00 V4.3.2. OS/390 support is scheduled for mid-2000. Java support includes: IBM Java Development Kit V1.1.7p for Windows NT, Sun Java Development Kit V1.1.7b for Solaris, and IBM Java Development Kit V1.1.6 for AIX
